Brief:
Rok had been disappointed with the work effected by a previous supplier on this building for a high profile customer.
Morholt was approached and responded quickly to ROK's request. We were confident that we could overcome the access problems on site and that we could effect a repair to the desired specification. As with all patch pointing and mortar match work what concerned us was that it may not exactly meet the Customers aesthetic expectations, to that end we explained our concerns.
- Rake out all areas of defective pointing below the DPC line and repoint with a 1:3 mortar mix. Colour to match existing. (Recessed Joint) 40lm below DPC, not all being defective.
- Rake out all loose areas of pointing to the small parapet walls, and re-point with a 1:3 mortar mix in a colour and pointing finish to match existing. 6m2 only loose defective pointing required.
- Allow for raking out and re-pointing approximately 20lm of isolated brickwork with a 1:3 mortar mix to match existing, to be re-measured upon completion. Only visible and accessible from the ground
- Rake out and re-point all existing planters with a 1:3 mortar mix. Colour and finish to match existing. Include: main entrance and 2no planters to south car park. Approx 16m2 each and recessed joints.
- Rake out and repoint all loose and defective pointing to brick paviours to path at rear of premises to match existing. Allow 20m2.
Result:
Work was completed within 5 days, from dpc level up to 3 metres above ground level, all 3 planters and on the rooftop, avoiding interruption to a busy customer car park serving both the building in question and the Watford Palace theatre.
Access to the work area was restricted due to this busy car park, and proximity to the Town Centre on a busy main thoroughfare, work was also carried out on the rooftop using a latchway fall arrest system.
